Overview
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), is the world’s leading youth achievement Award and equips young people for life in over 140 countries and territories across the globe.
The Award is available to all young people aged 14‐24. Doing the Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements consistently. The Award encourages young people to design their own programme of activities, set their own goals and challenge themselves to achieve their aims.
Since its launch 60 years ago, the Award has inspired millions of young people to transform their lives. Through non-formal education, the Award can play a critical role in a young person’s personal development.
What are the requirement for the award?
The Award is open to young people ages 14 to 24. There are three levels :
- Bronze: 6 months minimum participation.
- Silver: 12 months minimum participation.
- Gold: 18 months minimum participation.
Give Back with Purpose
Voluntary Service encourages participants to connect with their communities through meaningful acts of service. This section aims to build empathy, responsibility, and leadership while fostering a lifelong commitment to helping others and creating positive change.
Master Your Craft
The Skills section aims to develop personal interests, practical abilities, and creative talents. By focusing on consistent learning and improvement, participants build perseverance, problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset that benefits both personal and academic life.
Push Your Limits
Physical Recreation encourages healthy behavior not only for participants but also for their communities, through improved fitness and active engagement in sports or group activities. This section aims to enhance physical well-being, teamwork, self-esteem, and confidence. .
Explore Beyond Boundaries
The Adventurous Journey inspires participants to work together, plan, and complete an expedition or exploration. This section aims to develop resilience, leadership, and teamwork through shared challenges and real-world adventure experiences.
